Rain or Shine: Santa Claus is Coming to Mayfair

The weather calls for rain on and off today, but a little rain won't keep Santa away from Mayfair.

Join us (and Santa) today, rain or shine, for The Mayfair Business Association's annual tree lighting. As mentioned above, the big guy will be there, along with carolers and other seasonal fun.

Thanksgiving Day Parade News and More

From MBA board member Suzanne St. Marie:

This email is an update to the parades after speaking with Gary Cozens and Reese Hartey today by phone. Unless absolutely necessary we will not need to meet.

The Holiday parade as of 2010 has changed hands from the Optimist club to the Mayfair Business Association. The parade will be held on Sunday November 21st with a rain date of the following week. Gary Cozens has been a great help in mentoring through this 1st year process for us. On the phone today he cleared up the talk about the Parade of talent at the Perzel Center. The Optimist club will not hold an event as long as the parade goes on. The Optimist club has a long history with the children of this community. Their major concerns are making sure the kids get Santa and the Mrs. and the children get to display their talents from the dance schools etc.

With that said the Von Stuben day parade will continue as it always has. If they are in the need of extra help they can reach out to the MBA and Mayfair Civic Association. Both organizations are now working in sync hand and hand.

2010 Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure Team 'Good Morning Sunshine' invites everyone to join them in 'painting the greens pink' during a golf fundraiser plus Beef -n-Beer social Saturday, May 1. A great way to enjoy the first bright, warm days of spring, Golf for a Cause is sure to get everyone in the swing of empowering the breast cancer movement in the last days leading up to the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure!

'Tee up' for one or both of the fun events of this double-bill opportunity, both held at the beautiful Juniata Golf Club:

Golf outing: $65 per person (includes the Beef-n-Beer), shot--gun start time 8:30 AM (please note, there are no afternoon golf events)
Beef-n-Beer only: $30 per person, start time 1:00 PM

Highlights include DJ John Galeone of Sonic Groove Productions, great raffle opportunities and fabulous food. A portion of golf, 'Beef 'n Beer' and raffle tickets will be donated to the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate.

Our General meetings will be the odd months again. We will try Mondays at 5:30 and see how it goes.
