Dear Mayfair Business Owner,
It's a new year already, which means we are renewing memberships for the Mayfair Business Association in 2014! I would like to extend the invitation to join us as a member and help us continue to make Mayfair a business destination!.

I really enjoy being a
member of the Mayfair Business Association. In the MBA, we have created real
friendships over the years while doing a lot of positive things for the
neighborhood. We all have businesses to run and no one is expected to do too
much. I think we go a great job of sharing the workload and having a good time
while doing it. It's fun, and we are making the neighborhood a better place to
be in business.
We have several exciting changes in the membership to the Mayfair Business Association and we hope you'll consider rejoining us to take advantage of these great incentives! Included in this year's membership fees are:

Working with other neighborhood
organizations, we have been an influential part of making Mayfair better and
stronger. Here are some of the great things that happened in
2012:
The MBA sponsored, Mayfair May
Fair
and the Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run and
Walk,
which are typically held on the same day, continue to get bigger and better each year and are now
considered an annual tradition. The Mayfair May Fair brings a lot of people
onto the Avenue for a day of fun for all ages highlighting the businesses on the
Avenue, including the Original Soft Pretzel Factory's annual block party and the
15th Precinct's PDAC annual
Community Day. The
·
Mayfair Fallen
Heroes Run and Walk continues to
add more and more participants each year. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund
for the children of fallen police and fire fighters.
·
The Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade is another
Mayfair community project that is
not officially ours, but one that many of our members are actively involved in.
The number of people who come to the Avenue for the parade is really inspiring.
The Thanksgiving Parade is proof that Frankford Avenue is an alive and vital
destination for many families looking to maintain important traditions and we at
the MBA are committed to keeping it that way.
·
Through the
MBA, we have a direct line to city and state government. The MBA has strong
relationships with our city councilman Bobby Henon and our state representative
Kevin Boyle. Both of their offices have been great to work with. They can't cut
through all the red tape, but they sure as heck try to.
·
We made some
additions to the MBA sponsored annual Mayfair Christmas Tree Lighting and had a truly
overwhelming turnout. We incorporated the Mayfair Christmas Village and Craft
Fair featuring MBA members as well as independent crafters and artisans
selling their goods in an outdoor market. At the Tree Lighting we had seasonal
music, hot chocolate and cookies to lend to the festive and family atmosphere.
·
The Mayfair
Town Watch has been reorganized and reenergized. We look forward to continue
that relationship and to work closely with them on safety issues along Frankford
Avenue.
Your support, both by paying dues and by being an active member, helps support all of these great events and strengthen those organizations within Mayfair which directly benefit the members of Mayfair community who frequent your businesses.

We are definitely doing something right here in Mayfair. Things are not perfect... yet, but we are turning them around. This is a great and exciting place to be right now. Please join us in making Mayfair even better!
